My roommate told me that this piece looked like an ice cream cone, and I concur. Naturally, it brought to mind the scene in 'Forrest Gump' when Forrest brings Lieutenant Dan some ice cream.

Here's a very old drawing of mine that I recently unearthed. It was titled after one of my many favorite Sonic Youth songs - the recent news of Kim Gordon & Thurston Moore's pending divorce has bummed me out, so I felt the need to post this. This piece was made many years ago back when I was in college. Those days when I would constantly listen to Sonic Youth while obsessively drawing patterns, and wish that I could be as cool as Kim Gordon.

Ok so I haven't updated in a hot minute, mainly because I haven't really made anything in a while. I need to stop having a social life and start painting again. Seriously.

But anyways - our monster show @ Shea Stadium has been cancelled/postponed. Hopefully we can find another venue in the upcoming months (email me if you're a person with connectionz).

Things have been looking up though, as my iphone cases have been selling like hot cakes!
ALSO! via Society 6, I had a print selected as a part of the Design Milk collection with a mention on their blog...
AAAAAAND.. I have 3 prints that were picked up as a part of Urban Outfitters print shop! Hollaaa!

Monster Progress

I haven't updated in a hot minute! I recently moved out of my parental roommate's house, and relocated to Brooklyn! It has been a blast so far, except for the part that I have yet to find a job/income. Soooo if anyone wants to buy any prints / paintings / tshirts...I'll hook you up while you hook me up!

Anywho.. unemployment has been beneficial to my health in the fact that I have been going to the beach more frequently than ever - and I've been able to start my monster for the upcoming monster show happening in August at Shea Stadium in Brooklyn. More details on that to come.

Nameless

I really struggled to come up with a name for this one. So now it's called, "Nameless"

This is a weird painting, because it has been worked on for a long span of time, but in only 3 sittings.
This piece of plywood dates back to 2007 when I took my first printmaking class and we had to make woodblock prints. This was also when I was using cheap latex paint and a lot of drips. Alas, the textured underpainting was born.

Then, late last year, when I moved into my studio I picked up this piece and decided I would revisit it. So the blue background, the green diamond, and the black lines were placed on it. And I didn't know what to do next, so I forgot about it.

Until Sunday, when figured out how to finish it, and so I did.

Monster Show!

My friends and I had a collaborative monster show on Saturday @ The Coffee Shoppe in Beacon, NY.
Since I'm not really a figurative artist, I contributed by making the background shapes, some jewelry and pedestals for Boats' monsters, and I was selling tshirts, bags, bandanas & prints at the event.

This upcoming week is going to be busy busy!
I'm in the midst of preparing for a show on Saturday April 2nd in Beacon, NY
It's going to be a super awesome monster + music party.
Detailz for the event are on FACEBOOK

Besides all of the work that I need to finish for the show, I'm starting to print thingz again.
So far I will be doing shirtz, bagz, bandanaz, as well as paper printz.
I'm going to set up an Etsy shop and donate a portion of the proceeds to JAPAN!

We will be having a print sale at the art show, where 100% of the profit will go to Japan.
So if you haven't donated yet, come check out the art, listen to the music, buy an awesome print for charity, and hang out with some cool people.

So this past weekend I have been busy busy painting my first mural!
It's a lovely 3ft x 8ft countertop surface, semi-close to being finished.

It resides in a new retail store that is opening in New Paltz, New York.
RITUAL, run by the lovely Laura Andrighetti & Mark Moran, is a very hip retail space that will be selling new & vintage clothing, shoes, accessories. This space will also host art shows as well as sell art.
So if you are in New Paltz or passing by, you MUST stop in. You will love it!

Last weekend, Kyle Garnett came up to Albany to work with me in my studio for our upcoming collaborative show.
We ended up making a large painting together, as well as organizing the details for the event.
